Percorso's Le isole in un calice
Percorso's Le isole in un calice
May 16, 2025 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
This time, we set sail to Italy's two largest islands, each with rich winemaking traditions, native grape varieties, and sun-soaked terroirs: la Sicilia e la Sardegna. When we think of these two islands, four powerful elements come to mind that shape their wines: la collina, il vulcano, il mare e la terra.
La Sicilia, the land of fire and sun, offers a diverse array of wines crafted from Inzolia, a smooth, nutty white, Malvasia, known for its aromatic intensity, and Nerello Mascalese, a complex red grown on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna.
La Sardegna , rugged and untamed, brings us bold, expressive wines made from native grapes like Vermentino, a fresh and mineral white, Cannonau, warm and spicy (known elsewhere as Grenache), and Carignano (Carignane), a deep and robust red with Mediterranean flair. In this degustazione di vino (wine tasting), you will savor, in un calice (in a chalice) the distinct characteristics of these two beautiful islands. Gianfranco will guide the tasting, in Italian, by sharing stories, traditions, and the unique qualities of each varietal. While tasting, you will learn Italian terms to describe island wines: sapido, minerale, erbaceo, intenso, and more.
To complement the tasting, piccoli stuzzichini (small appetizers) will be served.
We look forward to sharing this sensorial island journey with you!
A presto e ... salute!

Or you may have found documents relating to your family’s past in Italy. Even if you don’t have keepsakes from your ancestors, you may wish to show us their Ellis Island passenger manifest or a photo of the Italian town where they lived. Feel free to be creative. We will all learn from this experience. Please share your item and tell us a little about the person it relates to, or how you discovered it, and what it means to your Italian family history.
